MAZDA Parts FAQ

Mazda cars are impeccably engineered and use only the most sophisticated Mazda parts. But no matter the quality of the component, it will eventually need to be replaced. That’s where Med Center Mazda comes in. Not only can we assist you with parts sourcing and installation, but we’re also a great resource for parts-related questions.
Should I Use OEM Parts or Aftermarket Parts?
Original Equipment Manufacturer parts (OEM) are those made by Mazda USA exclusively for Mazda vehicles. These parts are patented and specifically designed for your vehicle, and a certified Mazda dealership like ours stocks them exclusively. Aftermarket parts may be less expensive upfront, but in the long run they won’t deliver the same performance and longevity as OEM components.
Are All Brake Parts Replaced at the Same Time?
Eventually, all of the components in your car’s brake system will eventually need to be replaced. However, the calipers, wheel cylinders, and master cylinder typically last 100,000 miles. On the other hand, the process of everyday braking will wear down the brake pads much faster, so you’ll need to have them replaced every 60,000 miles or so at our Mazda service center. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving, the pads might need to be replaced even sooner.
What Happens If I Don’t Promptly Replace My Car’s Air Filter?
A clogged cabin air filter is a leading cause of unhealthy air and a bad climate control system, which includes the heater, air conditioner, and defroster. If left unattended long enough, severely clogged filters can even damage these system components—damage that isn’t covered by warranty. You’ll want to replace the air filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles.
How Often Should I Have My Car’s Spark Plugs Replaced?
The frequency of spark plug replacement at our Pelham, AL, Mazda dealership depends on the type of spark plugs in your car. For example, conventional copper plugs usually require replacement every 20,000 to 30,000 miles, while platinum plugs last around 60,000 miles. Iridium spark plugs can perform for up to 120,000 miles. Speak with our team to learn about the right interval for your vehicle.
