MAZDA Finance Tips: How to Raise Your Credit Score

February 6th, 2023 by

When you apply for a loan at our Mazda finance department, one of the first things we look at is your credit score. This helps lenders figure out whether you’re a reliable person to lend money to.

We do our best to work with all drivers here at Med Center Mazda, but it’s an inescapable fact that having a better credit score is always going to be beneficial when you try to finance a vehicle or sign a Mazda lease. Let’s see how you can raise your score and improve your chances of getting a financing agreement with good terms.

Make Payments on Time

Whether you’re paying off student loans, a car loan, or a credit card, one thing is always true: making your payments on time is a necessity. When you make a payment on or before its due date, that reflects well on you and can help your credit score go up over time.

Pay Off Debts

If you have a debt that you can pay off, do it. The less debt you have, the easier it can be to apply for a car loan. If a lender looks at your income and the amount of debt that you have and determines that you could struggle with another loan on your plate, that makes it more difficult to finance your new Mazda car.

Don’t Close Credit Card Accounts

It can be tempting to just close accounts for credit cards that you don’t use often. Don’t do that. Having more credit available to you and keeping accounts open for a longer period can help improve your score.
