It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and you can add a bit of festive cheer to your own home with a holiday lights display! If you haven’t gotten your Christmas lights up yet, or if you’re looking to add more to your yard, try one of these bright ideas!

Decorate An Outdoor Tree

If you’re lucky enough to have an evergreen tree in your yard, take advantage of it by decorating it as if it was inside. String up lights through the branches, add weather-proof garland, and top it off with ornaments! Many stores sell shatter-resistant plastic ornaments that mimic glass but are far more durable that would be perfect for your outdoor tree.

Blinking Bushes And Trees

If you have a bit of time on your hands, this is the perfect holiday project to tackle! You can time all of your bushes and trees to music with a special timer/speaker to spread extra holiday cheer! After all, is there anything cheerier than your lights blinking along to “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”?

Lighted Animations

For those who want to add a lot of lights without a lot of effort, animated light scenes are a fantastic option. You can find a variety of scenes, like gingerbread houses, Santa’s workshop, or winter animals like penguins and polar bears. Many of these scenes are “animated” with blinking lights to give the appearance of simple motions.

Lighted Pathways

Now that it gets dark earlier, make it easier to see the path to the front door with a lighted pathway. Small stakes hold the lights upright in the ground and you’ll be able to choose between LED or incandescent and white or multi-color bulbs for your path.

Bright Fences

Yards with a front fence are the perfect place to drape some icicle lights this Christmas! They add a cozy, festive touch to your home, and they’re certainly easier to hang than lights on the roof! You could also deck your fence out with lighted snowflakes or stars to welcome you home each evening.
